Stylish Wedding Invitations Designed to Fit Your Budget

Having beautiful, modern, and stylish wedding invitations doesn’t have to break the bank or derail your wedding budget. With a little thoughtful planning and a few clever ideas, you can create stationery that feels every bit as special as your day, without overspending. At Wild Moon Wedding Stationery, I’m here to guide you through making smart, creative choices so you can get stunning, stylish wedding invitations on a budget.

Working Out Your Wedding Invitation Budget

Being realistic with your wedding invitation budget from the beginning is an important first step when planning your wedding stationery. Typically, couples who work with Wild Moon have a budget of £500–£1,000 for their wedding invitations and on-the-day stationery. If this is above what you’re hoping to spend, then working with a professional stationer might not be the best option for you, but it’s always worth checking my Price List in advance to see whether it aligns with what you’re looking for.

While browsing Pinterest can be a great source of inspiration, it’s important to be mindful of what you see there. Many of the designs shared on Pinterest feature beautiful premium finishes such as hot foil, embossing, letterpress and other high-end printing methods. These techniques are stunning, but they’re also expensive due to the time-consuming process and the need for thicker, luxury card stocks. Try not to fall in love with something that simply isn’t achievable within your budget, and remember, if someone offers these finishes at suspiciously low prices, it’s a red flag. With stationery (as with most wedding services), you get what you pay for.

Another key factor that affects cost is quantity. Larger weddings require more invitations, which naturally increases the overall price. However, very intimate weddings can also be more expensive per piece, as many stationers, including myself, have minimum order quantities, and small print runs are generally more costly. This is simply the nature of professional printing.

But keep in mind: professional printing means exceptional quality. The richness of the inks, the crispness of the text, and the feel of the card stock will far surpass anything produced on a home printer or inkjet. It’s an investment in craftsmanship, detail, and a finish your guests will truly notice.

How To Get Wedding Invitations On A Budget

Stylish, personalised and professional wedding invitations don’t have to blow your budget. With a few clever choices, you can still enjoy beautifully designed stationery while keeping costs under control. Here are my top recommendations for couples wanting wedding invitations on a budget without compromising on style:

Choose a Customisable Wedding Invitation Collection
Opting for one of my Customisable Wedding Invitation Collections is one of the best ways to save. I offer a wide range of designs, from bold florals and modern celestial styles to minimalist botanical themes. All collections include free colour customisation, so we can match your invitations perfectly to your wedding palette. Plus, with 20 luxury coloured envelopes included as standard, you can enjoy a personalised look without the higher cost of a bespoke design.

Pick Only the Stationery Pieces You Need
Because all my stationery items are priced individually, you’re never tied to a pre-set package. If you don’t need RSVP cards, details cards or other extras, you can simply skip them. This lets you build your own stationery bundle based entirely on your budget and priorities.

Skip the Save the Dates or Go Digital
If you’re able to, consider skipping physical Save the Date cards and simply sending your wedding invitations out as early as possible. This can be an easy way to reduce printing and postage costs. However, this isn’t always possible, especially if you need to wait for details such as your menu tasting before finalising your invitations. Tastings often take place around six months before the wedding (or even later), and if you need guests to choose their menu options, you’ll have to wait until this information is confirmed before sending your invitations. If that’s the case, or if you simply want guests to have your date as early as possible (which is always a good idea), a great budget-friendly alternative is to send a digital Save the Date.

All of my Wedding Invitation Collections include the option to add a matching digital Save the Date for just £50, which you can send instantly via text or email. It’s a stylish, coordinated and more affordable solution that still sets the tone beautifully for your wedding day and the stationery to come.

Use A Digital RSVP Option
A digital RSVP (via email, text or website) is another great way to save on extra printing and envelopes. If you'd still like to offer a physical option, especially for guests who aren’t tech-savvy, then RSVP postcards are a perfect middle ground. They don’t require an extra envelope, and guests can simply pop a stamp on and send them back.

Consider Concertina Wedding Invitations
A great way to have stunning, impactful wedding invitations on a budget is to choose my Concertina Wedding Invitations. These are particularly useful if you need to include extra details such as menu choices for your guests. Each concertina invitation includes a tear-off RSVP postcard on the bottom panel, which your guests can easily fill in and return. If you prefer to use a digital RSVP instead, this section can be swapped for additional information and a timeline of your day.

Because everything is printed on one beautifully designed piece of card, you get a unique and modern invitation while reducing the costs associated with printing multiple separate items. It’s an elegant, practical and budget-friendly option that is sure to deliver that wow factor to your guests the moment they open it.

Hand Deliver Your Wedding Invitations
One of the simplest ways to cut costs on your wedding stationery is to hand deliver as many of your invitations as possible. With the rising price of postage stamps, delivering them yourself can make a noticeable difference to your budget, especially if you have a large guest list. It may take a little extra time, but every pound saved helps when you’re sticking to a wedding budget. Plus, it adds a personal touch your guests will truly appreciate!

Top Tips Not To Forget

Reconsider Hosting A Wedding Website
You might have thought about creating a wedding website, but hosting costs and design challenges can quickly add up if you want a professional finish. Often, a simpler approach is better for your budget. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love receiving a beautifully designed invitation in the post when all we normally get are pizza leaflets and polling cards?

Order Extra Invitations
It’s always wise to order around 5-10 additional invitations. With print minimums in place, if you discover you missed someone off the guest list, something gets lost in the post or you forgot to keep one aside for yourself, the cost of printing a tiny batch will be a lot more then spending a little extra to make sure you have spares to begin with.

Invest in Helpful Extras
Little additions can save you precious time during wedding planning. Consider ordering printed envelopes to avoid hand-writing hundreds of addresses. Adding envelope stickers is a cost-effective, efficient way to seal your invites without the hassle of licking each one individually. These small finishing touches make your stationery look polished and professional, while simplifying the process and prices start at only £1 each!
